WHAT IS LIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

Light at the Museum is a one night only light painting photography event held inside Melbourne Museum. Learn how to light paint amoung some of Australia’s top dinosaur and bug collections under the guidance of some of the best light painters in the world.

The workshop will be lead by Australia’s top light painting educator Denis Smith together with local artist Rob Turney and a dedicated team of local and international light painters.

Patrick Rochon, a light painting legend, will be joining us for this incredible workshop! Patrick is one of the most talented and inspirational light painters alive. Patrick will have a zone that each attendee will rotate through, so you will have one on one time with him, long with our other mentors!

During this workshop you will learn how to use your camera for light painting, use a huge array of light painting tools and compose amazing light painting images. This incredible night of light painting will have mutliple zones across the Museum which you will move through during the night and practice different light painting skills.

This workshop is a part of the Light Painting World Alliance Australia Tour 2018, which is holding light painting events across Australia in Feburary 2018.

This workshop suits ANY level of photography or light paitning skill.

The Museum is a short walk through Carlton Gardens from the city and there are various options for those travelling from further away.

Bicycle

Local bicycle facilities include bike lanes on Rathdowne St and Canning St. There is also a shared pedestrian/bike path on Nicholson St. Bicycle racks on the Plaza provide ample bike parking just outside the front door.

Car Park

Book a car park online and save up to 40%.

Located under Melbourne Museum, our car park is open 7 days a week from 6.00am to midnight daily. Enter via Rathdowne Street or Nicholson Street.

Please note Public Transport may not be available at the end of the workshop, so please make alterante arrangments such as a car, taxi or Uber.
